Overview

University-owned Adobe subscription-based licenses are assigned to Adobe ID user accounts. The University manages the Adobe licenses. The users manage the Adobe IDs.

Usernames: Adobe ID usernames are assigned to SIU email addresses such as:

  • someone@siu.edu
  • someone@alumni.siu.edu
  • someone@foundation.siu.edu
  • someone@siumed.edu
  • someone@dailyegyptian.com
  • someone@wsiu.org

Passwords: Adobe ID passwords are managed by users and are not synced with SIU email passwords.

Single Sign-On (SSO): Adobe Teams licenses do not support Single Sign-On (SSO).

License Activation: Sign in the Adobe ID to activate an Adobe subscription-based license on the device.

License Deactivation: Sign out the Adobe ID to deactivate an Adobe subscription-based license on the device.

Activation Limit: An Adobe subscription-based license allows one person to use the product on up to two devices in different locations. Before activating on a third device, sign out the Adobe ID on one of the first two devices.

Create an Adobe ID

1. Create Account: Open Adobe Account in a web browser and click Create an account.

2. Create Account (Step 1 of 2): Enter the Adobe ID email address, create an Adobe password, then click Continue.

3. Create Account (Step 2 of 2): Complete the short form and click Done.

4. Select Profile: Select the Southern Illinois University – All Campus profile.

5. Select Account Security: Select Sign-in and security from the Account Security menu.

6. Turn Off Automatic Profile Selection: Scroll down the page and turn off the Select my profile automatically option.

Sign In an Adobe ID

1. Open App: Open an Adobe app like Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop, Adobe Acrobat, or Adobe Captivate from the Windows Start app list or from Windows Search.

2. Enter Email Address: Enter the Adobe ID email address, then click Continue.

3. Enter Password: Enter the Adobe ID password, then click Continue.

4. Select Profile: Select the Southern Illinois University – All Campus profile. Note well: If not prompted to select a profile, see the instructions in the Create an Adobe ID section above to turn off automatic profile selection, then sign out and sign in again to switch profiles.

Sign Out an Adobe ID

1. Sign Out: Open an Adobe app like Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop, Adobe Acrobat, or Adobe Captivate, then either:

  1. Click Sign out from the Profile and Settings icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Click Sign Out… from the Help menu.

2. Sign Out All Adobe Apps: If prompted to Sign out from every Adobe application, click Sign out, then close all Adobe apps.

Reset an Adobe ID Password

1. Sign In: Open Adobe Account in a web browser, enter the Adobe ID email address, then click Continue.

2. Reset Password: Click Reset your password, then follow the prompts.

Turn Off Automatic Profile Selection

1. Create Account: Open Adobe Account – Security in a web browser and sign in.

2. Turn Off Automatic Profile Selection: Scroll down the page and turn off the Select my profile automatically option.
