SPSS Statistics 29: Manual Installation
Request SPSS Statistics
Upon approval of an SPSS Statistics software request for a personal device, the installer and authorization code are distributed by email. SPSS Statistics licenses must be updated each year.

Install SPSS Statistics for Mac
1. Installer DMG
Download the SPSS Statistics for Mac installer DMG, then open it with Finder.
2. Installer Package
Close all running applications, then open the SPSSSC_29.0.1.0_Mac.pkg installer.
3. Welcome to the IBM SPSS Statistics Installer
Click Continue.
4. Important Information
Click Continue.
5. Software License Agreement (1 of 2)
Click Continue.
6. Software License Agreement (2 of 2)
Click Agree.
7. Standard Install
Click Install.
8. The installation was completed successfully
Click Close.
9. Activate SPSS Statistics for Mac
Proceed to Activate SPSS Statistics for Mac and use an authorization code to activate the SPSS Statistics installation.
Activate SPSS Statistics for Mac
1. Application
Open the SPSS Statistics application at /Applications/IBM SPSS Statistics/SPSS Statistics.app.
2. Activate IBM SPSS Statistics
Click Launch License Wizard or open the SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard (LAW) at /Applications/IBM SPSS Statistics/Resources/Activation/LicenseWizard.
3. License Status
If the License Status window appears, click Next.
4. Product Authorization
Select Authorized user license, then click Next.
5. Enter Codes
Copy and paste the 20-digit authorization code to the Enter Code field, click Add, and click Next.
6. Internet Authorization Status
Upon successful authorization, click Next.
7. Licensing Completed
Click Finish.
Install SPSS Statistics for Windows
1. Installer ISO
Download the SPSS Statistics for Windows installer ISO, then open it with Windows Explorer.
2. Installer Program
Close all running applications, then open the SPSSSC_29.0.1_MP_ML.exe installer.
3. Copyright
Click Next.
4. License Agreement
Select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then click Next.
5. Destination Folder
Click Next.
6. Ready to Install the Program
Click Install.
7. InstallShield Wizard Completed
Check Start IBM SPSS Statistics now, then click Finish.
8. Activate SPSS Statistics for Windows
Proceed to Activate SPSS Statistics for Windows and use an authorization code to activate the SPSS Statistics installation.
Activate SPSS Statistics for Windows
1. Activate IBM SPSS Statistics
Click Launch License Wizard or open the SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard (LAW) at C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS Statistics\law.exe.
2. License Status
If the License Status window appears, click Next.
3. Product Authorization
Select Authorized user license, then click Next.
4. Enter Codes
Copy and paste the 20-digit authorization code to the Enter Code field, click Add, and click Next.
5. Internet Authorization Status
Upon successful authorization, click Next.
6. Licensing Completed
Click Finish.
Troubleshoot
1. Corrupted Installer ISO: To verify successful download, compare the file checksum with the table below. If the checksum does not match, then download again with a different web browser.

2. Third-Party Archive Utilities: Open the Mac installer DMG with Finder and the Windows installer ISO with Windows Explorer. If necessary, temporarily disable or uninstall third-party archive utilities like 7-Zip, WinRAR, and WinZip.
3. Administrator Account: The installer application and License Authorization Wizard (LAW) must be run as an administrator with sufficient access to the /Applications/IBM SPSS Statistics folder. If necessary, login an administrator account to install and activate.
4. Authorization Code: Each SPSS Statistics authorization code is compatible with only one major version (for example, SPSS Statistics 29 but not 28 or 30).
5. Internet Connection: The License Authorization Wizard (LAW) requires an unblocked Internet connection with the IBM license server. If necessary, temporarily disable firewall, anti-malware, and other security software and send these to ithelp.siu.edu or salukitech@siu.edu:

6. License Authorization Wizard: If the License Authorization Wizard (LAW) reports successful authorization but SPSS Statistics is still not authorized, send these to ithelp.siu.edu or salukitech@siu.edu:

7. License not valid: Submit an SPSS Statistics software request. Either an authorized user license is missing/has expired or an unauthorized computer is attempting to access a network license.
