Install SPSS Statistics for Mac

1. Renew Expired SPSS Statistics License

If SPSS Statistics 29 is already installed with an expired license, skip to the Activate SPSS Statistics for Mac instructions.

2. Update Finder Settings
  1. Go to the Finder and select Settings… (or Preferences… on older macOS versions).
  2. Click General settings and check the boxes next to these:
    • External Disks.
    • CDs, DVDs, and iPods
  3. Click Sidebar settings and check the boxes next to these:
    • External Disks
    • CDs, DVDs, and iOS Devices

3. Uninstall Previous SPSS Statistics Installations
  1. Open the macOS Applications folder.
  2. Right-click any previous SPSS Statistics installations and select Move to Trash.

4. Download Installer
  1. Open the email invitation from Software Licensing Team.
  2. Click Open.
  3. Click Download.

5. Open Installer
  1. Open the SPSS_Statistics_29.0.2.0_Mac.iso disk image with Finder.
  2. Open the SPSSStatistics drive.
  3. Open the MacOS folder.
  4. Open the IBM SPSS Statistics.pkg installer.

  • Click Continue.

1. Open SPSS Statistics License Activation Wizard
  • If the Activate IBM SPSS Statistics window appears, click Launch License Wizard.
  • If not, open the license wizard here:
    • /Applications/IBM SPSS Statistics/Resources/Activation/LicenseWizard

2. License Status
  • If the License Status window appears, click Next.

3. Product Authorization
  1. Select Authorized user license.
  2. Click Next.

4. Enter Codes
  1. Copy and paste the 20-digit authorization code to the Enter Code field.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Click Next.

  • Upon successful authorization, click Next.

  • Click Finish.

Install SPSS Statistics for Windows

1. Renew Expired SPSS Statistics License

If SPSS Statistics 29 is already installed with an expired license, skip to the Activate SPSS Statistics for Windows instructions.

2. Uninstall SPSS Statistics
  1. Uninstall any previous SPSS Statistics installations.
  2. Delete these folders:
    • C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS Statistics
    • C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\SPSS\Statistics

3. Download Installer
  1. Open the email invitation from Software Licensing Team.
  2. Click Open.
  3. Click Download.

  1. Open the SPSS_Statistics_29.0.2.0_Windows.iso disk image with Windows Explorer.
  2. Open the SPSSStatistics drive.
  3. Open the Windows folder.
  4. Open the setup.exe installer.

  1. Check Start IBM SPSS Statistics now.

1. Open SPSS Statistics License Activation Wizard
  • If the Activate IBM SPSS Statistics window appears, click Launch License Wizard.
  • If not, open the license wizard here:
    • C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS Statistics\law.exe

  • If the License Status window appears, click Next.

Troubleshoot

1. Corrupted/Incomplete Download

To verify successful download, compare the file checksum with the table below. If the checksum does not match, then download again with a different web browser.

2. Third-Party Archive Utilities
  1. Open the Mac installer disk image with Finder and the Windows installer disk image with Windows Explorer.
  2. If necessary, temporarily disable or uninstall third-party archive utilities like 7-Zip, WinRAR, and WinZip.
3. Administrator Account
  • If necessary, sign in an administrator account to install and activate.
4. Authorization Code
  • Each SPSS Statistics authorization code is version specific. For example, an SPSS Statistics 29 code will not work with SPSS Statistics 28 or SPSS Statistics 30.
5. Internet Connection
  1. The License Activation Wizard requires an Internet connection with the IBM license server.
  2. If necessary, temporarily disable firewall, anti-malware, and other security software

8. License Not Valid
  • If the License not valid window appears, submit an SPSS Statistics software request. Either an authorized user license is missing/expired or an unauthorized computer is attempting to access a network license.
