Google Career Certificates and AI Essentials

Introduction

SIU Carbondale offers free access to industry-recognized certificates and professional-level training in high-demand fields with Google Career Certificates and AI Essentials.

Training is available to faculty, staff, and students on a first-come, first-served basis until December 31, 2027. Training is built by Google experts and provided to SIU Carbondale through the NASH-Google Microcredentials Community of Practice (CoP).

• No experience necessary! Learn job-ready skills even with no relevant experience or a post-secondary degree.
• Learn at your own pace! Complete the online program on your own time and set your own schedule.
• Stand out to employers! Make your resume competitive with a credential from Google.

Create Your Coursera Account

1. Go to coursera.org. At the top-right corner, click Join for Free.
2. Enter your @siu.edu email address and set a Coursera password. Important: Do not link your Google, Apple, or Facebook account to your Coursera account.
3. Check your inbox (or junk/spam), open the email from Coursera, and click Confirm email address.
4. Go to your account Settings and enter a personal email address for the recovery email address.

Join the Learning Program

1. Click a Google professional certificate or specialization link below.
2. Review the program info and click the Enroll button.
3. Sign in with your Coursera account and complete the enrollment.
4. Optional: Use the Coursera mobile app.
5. Questions? Visit the Learner Help Center.
