Connecting to SIU-Guest

Overview

Wireless network access is available to family and friends by using the SIU-Guest wi-fi network. Once guests find “SIU-Guest” in their available networks list and enter their contact information: first and last name, phone number, email address, and service provider (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc.), then accept the Acceptable Use Policy, they will receive a code via SMS. After entering the code, they will have access for 12 hours, before needing to repeat the process. If you or your guests need assistance, contact SalukiTech at (618) 453-5155 or salukitech@siu.edu.

If you are signing into the guest network and you are unsure of your cellular provider, you can find out your provider here:
https://www.carrierlookup.com/

If your provider is not on the list, it may be owned by a larger company such as Verizon or Sprint. Try selecting one of these companies as your carrier and submitting your request. If you do not receive a text message, try again and select a different cell phone carrier.

Connecting with Windows

1. Click the internet icon in the bottom right corner of your Windows screen.

2. A list of available networks will appear. Click on SIU-Guest.

3. Click Connect.

4.Review the Acceptable Use Police and Enter your first name, last name, email address, and phone number.

5. Select your service provider from the drop-down menu. If your provider is missing from the list, you can request for it to be added by submitting a request through the IT Help Portal.

6. Click the checkbox that certifies your agreement of the Acceptable Use Policy and click Complete Registration. 

7. A text will be sent to your mobile device. Enter the unique code in the box below and click Complete Registration again.  

8. You are connected to the SIU-Guest Network.

Connecting with a mobile phone (Android and Apple)

1. Open the Settings menu on your Android device.
2. Navigate to your Wi-Fi Settings.
3. Select SIU-Guest from the list of available networks.

4. Review the Acceptable Use Policy

5. Enter your first name, last name, email address, and phone number.

6. Select the Service Provider drop-down menu and choose your provider.

Please note:
If you are unsure what carrier your cell phone uses, look up your phone number.

If you select the wrong carrier for your cell phone provider, you will never get the confirmation code to complete registration. Google Voice is not a cell phone carrier and is not supported by the portal.

7. Select the checkbox that certifies your agreement to the SIU Acceptable Use Policy.

8.You will receive a text message with a code.

9. Enter in the Verification code on the registration page. This code is case sensitive.

10. After clicking on Complete Registraition you will be connected to SIU-Guest.
