BigDawg is the campus’s High Performance Computing Cluster (HPCC) managed by the Research Computing and Cyberinfrastructure (RCC) group. Access is requested via NetID by following the steps below.

The BigDawg RCC group can be contacted via research-computing@siu.edu.

After access is granted, there is mandatory user training that will need to be completed.

  1. In your browser, go to: netid.siu.edu
  2. If prompted, sign in with your SIU email address and password.

3. If prompted, enter your Microsoft Authentication code.

4. Once signed in, click Requests in the top left corner of NetID.

5. A new menu will appear. Click Request Access.

6. Click the checkbox next to “Include Self.”

7. Your account should now appear.

8. In Section 2, click the drop-down menu and select Big Dawg HPC.

9. A short form will appear. Click the checkbox next to “BigDawg HPC.” Then, click Done.

10. In Section 3, select a start and end date for your access. Typically, this is a year, but you can select a shorter duration.

11. In Section 4, enter a brief comment specifying what you would like to use BigDawg for. Then, click Submit Request.

12. You will receive an email once your request has been processed. In the meantime, you can also check the status of your request by clicking the View Requests tab.
