Share a File with Microsoft Teams

Overview

Sharing files and coauthoring in Teams is easy—share files in a one-on-one chat, a group chat, or a team channel. Select the paperclip icon below the box where you type a message to upload a copy of your original file. Or upload a file by going to the Files tab of a chat and selecting Share.

Sharing Files in Teams via Chat

On the toolbar on the left hand side of Teams select the “Chat” icon.

Select the “New Chat” button amongst the tool bar in the top left corner of the screen.

Enter the name of the receipient in the address field.

Select the attachment icon at the bottom of your screen and when prompted choose where you would like to upload the attachment from (Cloud option will be for OneDrive, Upload from Device will be from your computer’s internal storage)

Select your file from the directory when prompted and select “open” when you’ve selected the appropriate document.

Your document should appear in the chat box once uploaded. Click the “Send” button to share the document. Select the appropriate permissions for sharing. This is where you can restrict the access to a specific person or group. A picture containing screenshot, text, multimedia software
