Sending a Virtual Fax

  1. In Microsoft Outlook, start a new email.
  2. Key in the 10-digit fax number followed by “@fax.siu.edu” in the To field. For example, 6184534000@fax.siu.edu.
  3. Enter the subject of the fax in the Subject field. The recipient of the fax will see this information on the cover page.
  4. If you would like to include a short message enter it in the body of the email. The recipient of the fax will see this on the second page of the fax.
  5. You may include documents, file types of .DOC, .DOCX, PDF, OCR, HTML, RTF/TXT, and XPS in your fax by attaching them to the message.

NOTE: A copy of the fax will be in your Outlook account including any attachments.

Receiving a Fax

  1. Provide the sender with your 10-digit fax number, for example 6184532678.
  2. When a fax is received, it will appear in your Microsoft Outlook Inbox.
